This policy describes how the GeoWheels mobile application (“the App”) handles information related to your use. It is intended to stay consistent with the App’s actual features and with the disclosures on the distribution platforms (Apple App Store, Google Play).

The App lets you enter and calculate information about the vehicle and geometry (for example make, model, year, angles, tyres, loads). This data is processed to provide the App’s features (calculations, display, PDF export where available).
Some data is stored locally on your device, including configurations or reports you choose to save in the App (JSON file in the app’s private sandbox). It is not automatically synced to our servers by the App insofar as the App does not require a user account for these functions.
If you use vehicle identification number (VIN) decoding, the App sends that VIN to the United States public
NHTSA vPIC service
(vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov) to retrieve vehicle information. This processing is performed by
a third party (U.S. government); please review the privacy policy on the official NHTSA site for details on their practices.
When you browse make, model, or year lists in the App, HTTPS requests may be sent to a third-party public vehicle data service (for example CarQuery) to retrieve those lists. Query parameters may include a selected make or model; see that service’s policy for how they handle data.
The App may let you export or share documents (for example PDF) or text through the system share sheet. In that case, what is shared depends on what you choose to send and the third-party service you pick (messaging, cloud storage, etc.); we do not control those services.
If you open the bug-report flow, you may attach a screenshot from your photo library: the App then accesses only the file you select, as part of your request. The message is prepared for sending by email (device mail client); the information included (version, language, vehicle context if provided, description) is what you confirm when sending the email.
The App may read the application version on the device (package metadata) for display or context (for example in a report). This is not advertising telemetry built into the current technical description of the project.
GeoWheels does not sell your personal data to third parties in the usual “sale of data” sense to advertisers. The transfers described above correspond to features (NHTSA, sharing you initiate, support email) and any legal obligations.
Data stored locally benefits from the operating system’s security model (app sandbox). No mechanism can guarantee absolute security; we encourage you to keep your device up to date.
Depending on your country of residence, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, or objection. To exercise these rights or ask a question about this policy, contact us at the address in section 1. For data that exists only on your device, deletion may also be done by uninstalling the App or using in-app deletion features where provided.
We may update this policy; the date at the top of the page will be revised. For material changes, we may notify you by reasonable means (for example App or store updates).
